What do you when you’ve been married to a wonderful woman for 29 years? Take a road trip!! We both have busy schedules so we decided to take a day trip though AZ wine country – which is a pretty drive on any day, but with all the tropical rain we’ve had here in the southern part of Arizona it is lush in the desert!!!! It was a beautiful ride and we ran into this group of folks enjoying the day as well.
They were from all over AZ and headed to Tombstone for lunch.
Porches at play
Love this 1960!!!!
They were having a lot of fun and I got to talk to John who was co-piloted this beautiful 1960.
Here is a short video of their gathering place.
Thanks for reading.

It’s been 50 years since Ford took the drag racing world by storm with its lightweight Thunderbolt, and to celebrate, Dearborn Steel Tubing, the original manufacturer of the Thunderbolt in 1964, has just produced a new Thunderbolt.
We were able to see the very first Ford Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt #100 which was the last one made. There were also three other Thunderbolts, two factory Pontiac “Swiss cheese” race cars and significant race cars from the 60’s and 70’s. We were able …
Cord is one of those iconic automobile brands that seems to come from a mythical era of the past; they don’t quite seem of the world we know today. The legendary Cord 810 gave us pop-up headlights, was a FWD pioneer, and is considered one of the most beautiful cars ever. Now you can own the name!Yes, Leake Auctions is putting the Cord trademark up for bid — actually even more than just the name: Leake Auction Company is proud to announce a rare opportunity to purchase and own one of the most revered names in the world of American classic automobiles, the trademark, licensing and manufacturing rights to the CORD Automobile.
BTW it you are a Corvette owner or enthusiasts and you are not a member of the Museum – you should be and here is the perfect reason why. Read on!!!
History of the GS-90
In 1994, Corvette racing driver and tuner, Dick Guldstrand introduced his first and only coachbuilt Corvette: the GS90. The car is based on the Corvette ZR-1 chassis and engine designed by Steve Winter. When the C4 ZR-1 was released, Guldstrand saw an opportunity to bring back the Grand Sport he used to race with, pitching the concept of his radically restyled ZR-1 to Chevrolet. He requested several ZR-1s and a few million dollars. Instead he received one car and a blessing.
The GS90 was Guldstrand’s ultimate 475hp version of the ZR-1, incorporating influences from the Grand Sports of the early 60s inside a distinctive body style that is a throwback to the original 1963 Corvette Grand Sport race cars. Guldstrand left the ZR-1 cabin alone, concentrating instead on the chassis and engine development, and bespoke coachbuilt distinctive body.
As for the Great Eight Corvettes themselves, the museum’s board of directors, in conjunction with Chevrolet, has determined that only three of the eight cars damaged were in sufficient condition to be repaired. Chevrolet will oversee the restoration of the 2009 ZR-1 Blue Devil prototype, as well as the 1,000,000th Corvette assembled, a white 1992 convertible, at the GM Heritage Center. The third car to be restored is the black 1962 Corvette; Chevrolet has agreed to fund this restoration, which will be handled by a shop designated by the National Corvette Museum. The remaining five cars will be preserved in their current states, and will form the basis of a future museum exhibit.Speaking of the car’s damaged in the sinkhole collapse, GM’s executive vice president of Global product development, Mark Reuss, said, “Our goal was to help the National Corvette Museum recover from a terrible natural disaster by restoring all eight cars. However, as the cars were recovered, it became clear that restoration would be impractical because so little was left to repair. And, frankly, there is some historical value in leaving those cars to be viewed as they are.”
Preservation or restoration. That’s the question that faces anyone dealing with classic cars, and it’s the issue with which the National Corvette Museum is grappling in the wake of the sinkhole that opened up in its midst this past February. In the …
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – A massive sinkhole that swallowed eight sports cars won’t be a permanent attraction at the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky. The museum’s board voted Saturday to fill in the entire hole that opened up in February and …
I’m not sure they should restore it. Maybe just preserve it.
Elvis’ BWM 507!!!
Only 253 examples of the BMW 507 were ever made, and Elvis Presley owned two of them. The first, a white ’58 roadster, he famously gifted to his Fun in Acalpulco co-star Ursula Andress; the other, a ’58, has been in storage for over 40 years. Now, BMW Classic has obtained Elvis’s “lost” sports car and will give it a full restoration. This Bimmer’s circuitous history begins in March 1958, when the U.S. Army officially inducted its most famous Korean War draftee. While assigned to the Third Armored Division, Elvis met hill-climb ace Hans Stuck, who was racing a 1957 BMW 507 at Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry in southern France. Presley was smitten with the 150-hp drop-top. After having its 3.2-liter V8 rebuilt and a new four-speed manual gearbox installed, he leased it that December.
“Elvis’s BMW 507: lost & found” exhibition comes to Munich. 27 July 2014. After nearly 60 years, the BMW 507 formerly owned by Elvis Presley returns to its birthplace. You can currently visit the Roadster, still untouched, in the BMW Museum – but when …
BMW has revealed intentions to restore a 1957 507 Roadster which was originally purchased by king of rock ‘n’ roll Elvis Presley. The BMW 507 Roadster seen here had a white paint and rolled off the assembly line in 1957 with the chassis number 70079.
I’m a member of a lot of groups/pages on FB and they all are great, but I grow weary of the static, standing by the side your car photos!!!
Let’s see some action!!!!!
Average Guy’s Action Photo/Video contest starts today 7/12 and runs through 7/19. Let’s see your classic/vintage, muscle, race car (even just your daily driver) in action. There will be at least two categories – still action shots and videos.
Only a couple of rules:
1. Be safe.
2. It has to be you and it has to your car.
3. It has to be an action shot either a still photograph or video.
Something like these:
Auto crossing with my C4 at Bondurant facility.
Auto crossing with my C6 Sports Car Club of American (SCCA) Sole Class.
Lining up my ’70 Mustang at the drags against a Ford Focus!!!!
There will be prizes given away, including car art take by one of the artist on http://wp.me/P2YxYx-19F and we’ll check the budget for some on-line auto parts gift cards as well.
Get you pics or videos to us either on our FB page https://www.facebook.com/AGCarRestoration or email them to AGCarRestoration@cox.net or timsweet@cox.net.
Every town there are a couple places where folks just park cars they want to sell. Those spots move around from time to time or new ones just popup.
There is one such place just down the street from my house. It is just along the side of the road as you are headed out of town toward the freeway and right across from a large super store (grocery). There is often everything from a trashed Ford Taurus and on up to large late model SUV’s. There have even been some classics!! Few weeks ago there was a 1969 Mustang – home made restoration and paint but not a bad looking car. A few weeks ago there as a ’62 Ford Falcon with a bored out 302, dual exhaust.
Today had stop (ok…fine….I always stop!!) and lot at this 1952 Chevy pickup. It was nicely done. I’d give the paint a 7 out of 10, the bed was nicely redone give that a 9 out of 10. The interior was all original or restored to original. Original material upholstery, gauges, steering wheel, dash. Even had the original dash, stick shift and there near the top of the right hand side was the original push button radio. So very cool.
I’m not selling, nor am I considering purchasing and I don’t know the seller. Just thought it was a great looking car. I didn’t talk to the owner but I did see the truck drive up under it’s own power as I was headed to the auto parts store and he was gone when I got back and stopped to look at it. I believe it had the 6 cylinder – but I have an issue with opening up a car without the owner there. Maybe it an an alarm – my 1970 Mustang had one.
This baby looked great. Asking price showed $23,000 obo. Here are some pics:
Chrome look good….$23,000
Phone number is on the sign. Class was good all the way around.
Love the lines on the 1952
Great looking bumper.
Floor bed is very well done.
If you a reader of my blog and you are interested in the truck. Call the guy and I’ll be glad to inspect it for you.
If you thought last week was light…this week is weak!!
Buick became a corporation back in 1903 back on May 19. It eventually became a major General Motors brand with some great cars in the 60 and 70 like the A bodies GSX, the Wild Cat, and the Grand National.
I got the Goodyear Blimp taking its first flight on May 22, 1929. Still provides some of the best auto racing coverage!!!
In an earlier Auto Factoid we talked about Walter P. Sloan of GM fame, well he has a birthday coming up this week. May 23 back in 1875 he was born in New Haven Conn.
