It’s always cool to catch a car show when you are traveling.
This past week (Super Bowl Sunday) while visiting family in Alpharetta, Ga, (just outside of Atlanta) I got the chance to ride into the ‘big’ city and take in the event – Thanks Brian!!
There often more than 1500 cars on the first Sunday of every month and even though it was cold and damp (and it being Super Bowl Sunday and the home town team was playing) there were a lot of cars!!!
We got there as it was starting to break up but there were still a lot of cars. Here’s a few pics.
Take a look at this awesome creation. Built on a C4 Corvette body to best look like a 1957 Chevy!
Check out this Nissan!!! It’s power plant is in the next pic.
Nice straight six!!!!
Nice custom ride!!
Here is a great look for a Road Runner.
No one standing around new anything about the car.
I wasn’t even able to scratch the surface. There were rows of Mustangs and Corvettes, long with 100’s of European and Japanese high-end rides and not all of them ‘stock’.
I’d like you to take a look at one of my constant readers classic muscle car.
First let me say that Bill has been an a long quest to find a car to replace this car:
Back in the day.
It was a long search with lots of phone calls with many car owners. Some of the stories of his search would make a great post, but for now let’s get to his new find, which if you can’t tell in video below, he’s pretty happy about this rare color code car.
His new pride and joy is a H code, 1968 Road Runner and it breaks down like this:
R – Plymouth Belvedere, Satellite (“B” body)
M – Medium price group
23 – 2 door hardtop
H – 383 1-4BBL 8 Cylinder “B” engine (High Performance)
G – St. Louis, Missouri – birth place
It is for the most part as it came from the factory. But I’m going to let Bill cover all the details with you. Here is his first video.
Here a few pics of Bill’s Road Runner he sent when he was looking it over.

Bill will be providing updates on the restoration and other task as he works on this beautiful Mopar (makes me miss my Dodge Dart).
Welcome back to our recent trip to Barrett Jackson Classic Car Auction 2017 in Scottsdale, AZ. Keep in mind these videos were part of the our Facebook Live event and I’m sharing them here on our blog. Quality is ‘iffy’ in spots but if you’ve never been to some this huge it’s cool to see some of the areas that the TV coverage doesn’t always show.
These videos show more of the grounds and where you can view the sold cars (if you attend early in the week you can see the cars in these areas before they are shined up and sold). I apologize for top of the tent footage – sigh… live video streaming goes like that. BTW the phone noises you hear are responses to the live feed.
More coming include my drive of the New Camaro SS and Camaro RS and the introduction of a new feature project car.

This next video is more of the staging area and a look at a few of the cars coming up. You’ll see the ’69 Road Runner that appeared in Hemming Muscle Machines publication, it is as nice in persons as it was on pages of the magazine.
This video is at the Hillbank display. These are beautiful cars and the all aluminum bodies are awesome to see. The Daytona coups are built on CSX 9000 chassis (the originals were built on CSX 2000 chassis). They have the 427 Cobra engine and the 427 S/C. You can find out more at WWW.HILLBANKUSA.COM .
Thanks for reading. A few more videos coming that include an impromptu conversation with one of the sellers and one of the guys working to get the cars up on the stage.

These next two videos give you a little look at the auction area.
In this video I’ll take outside and into the staging areas. Now we mere mortals aren’t allowed to be in these areas but if you are cool about you can often get up close and personal with some of the cars.
Nice Road Runner waiting in the staging area at the auction.
More coming including some discussion with the stage crew and one of the sellers – and my experiences driving the New Camaro SS and RS.

It is always cool attend a car auction but Barrett-Jackson events are top-notch!!!
For this trip I attempted to use Facebook Live as a platform and I can report that it worked, however video format showed up ‘sideways’ for many of the post, my android failed to compensate for wide-angle shots. I pulled down most of the videos and edited them to make it a bit easier to view.
Here is the first video in that series:
Hot Wheels!!!
Awesome looking van. One lady said “It just needs the plastic package!”

I love this time of year here in Arizona. Not just because you can work on your classic/muscle car in the garage without feeling like a Christmas turkey in the oven. I love this time of year because it’s Car Auction Season! For the next 3-4 weeks classic cars (and others) are bountiful between Tucson, AZ and Phoenix, AZ.
With Barrett Jackson Car Auction kicking off this week and RM, Russo and Steel auctions following up, beautiful cars are brought out in to the cool winter sunlight and driven or set on display. Now, I’m not just talking about at the auctions themselves. But I’m talking about the little known phenomenon that occurs in and around the area.
We have a tradition were we will spend some time driving round Scottsdale and Fountain Hills and other little sections of the greater Phoenix area and looking for the displays of cool classic, muscle, antique cars. The owners have push these beauties out of their warm protective garages, out into the cool winter air. Everywhere you drive, sitting next to the curbs or at the edge of the driveways are some of the most prized, collectible and unique cars south of Payson, AZ.
Some of these are for sale, owners hope to catch the eye of disappointed bidder on his way home or get noticed a buyer that doesn’t really want to ponying up baskets full of old presidents to just participate in the auctions, but still suffering from the ‘classic/muscle/antique car flu that is epidemic this time of year. Others just what to show off their well-loved works of metal art and have a discussion about it with passer-byes.
It is a great time! We’ll be head there to spend couple days attending the events at Barrett Jackson and we’ll take the time to drive around the area and I’ll grab a few shots of the local car eye candy and post them up. If you are headed up drop me a note, I’ve met a few readers at such events, that’s always cool.
BTW – Don’t forget some of the best view is in the parking lot at the these events – snap some shots and post them up on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/AGCarRestoration .

Welcome back to #ProjectSportsRoof. My goal to get the engine by Christmas is in jeopardy, so I need to get cranking on getting it all back together.
There’s been a few set back – like losing a couple of bolts that had to be ordered. A career change has slowed me down some as well. But I’d like to have the engine in by Christmas and driving it by the end of Jan. 2017.
So, as my self-imposed deadlines are coming fast, I picked up with the adjusting the lifters. Here how that looked:
These will have to be adjusted several times when after it’s run a bit.
Coming up next I have to put the intake on, carb, distributor, fuel pump, so check back and see the progress. Grab my feed and you’ll get notified when I up date the progress.
If you look back at #ProjectSportsRoof post you’ll see the condition engine bay. During those videos I mentioned that I was going to clean it up and hit it with a rattle can. Again this isn’t going to be a concours restoration, it’s going to look nice and it’s going …
