#ProjectSR76 1976 Stingray – Interior Inspection

We begin creating the list of thing that need attention on the 1976 Stingray. We start by inspecting the car. This video the interior.

Now you might have go to back ways in the list of posts and videos to find those showing the condition of my last project 1973 Mustang (#ProejctSR73) and the Vette is in much better shape the than the Stang.  Vette is 90% better mechanically and 80% better interior wise then the 1973.

I grew up loving the C3 body styles.  I share the same birth as the Corvette (although the brand is a bit older than I am) and 1976 was the year I graduated high school.

So take a look at the interior.

Thanks for checking and there’s lot more coming up.

My Mustang taught me an important lesson that interior colors should be ANYTHING but BLACK in Tucson. Changing just the seats from black to light gray reduced the interior 30 degrees according to my infa red temp gun. Keep the interior light.

I just love that K MART Cassette deck. It’s gotta stay (if you can get it working). Me personally I would clean, clean some more, and clean again that interior before I would form a game plan. Lots of simple green, cotton towels, and Mr Clean erasers. Vacuum for hours and hours. Baca in Tucson can handle the seats, form, and even door panel touch ups and repairs at really reasonable prices.
Parasitic draw on Corvettes can sometimes be the Tach, but the door ajar light is probably a good clue to try first. Ye ol’test lamp and pulling fuses one at a time will find that draw easily.

LOL – the original was just an AM/FM Delco push button. I’ll give it to ya if I take it out, it really doesn’t fit. I don’t like the interior color. I think the car should have a black interior. Most of it can be painted and carpet swapped – actually there’s no carpet in the front. But they’ll need to be cleaned really well.
The seat foam and cloth (it shouldn’t be cloth either) are destroyed, but the wireframes are in much better shape than the Mustang’s.

The door panels are not great. They are warped. New panels are pricey (IMO) I might see if I can find used that are in better shape and see if Baca can fix them.

Let me hear from you!!! Drop a note!!
