Everybody knows that saying “I’ve died and gone to heaven”, and this applies to most enthusiasts in this junkyard full of old decrepit Ford Mustangs. Especially, the project guy that has an old classic sitting in the garage. I’m sure it could go either way, though, as some might consider this a sore sight with so many wrecked and rusted ponies. This is the Colorado Mustang Salvage Yard.

Soooo, anybody down for some campin’?!

Colorado Mustang Specialists, Inc. began in a two-car garage in 1972. Mustangs were as numerous as hippies on a Boulder park lawn, easy to buy, fix and sell. So, a would be University of Colorado student found a lucrative way to pay his rent and tuition. After graduation the diploma went in a drawer and the horsing around got serious. Wrecked, junked and abandoned Mustangs were cheap and plentiful, so the collection started that eventually led to the worlds largest Mustang salvage yard.

Most recent and exciting to us is the addition of modern fuel injection conversions, for 64-1/2 to 85 models. These conversions and related parts let the novice enthusiast bring his early Mustang into the new millennium with a computer driven, fuel-injected, V-8 power train, meeting todays standards without changing the Mustangs classic design. We predict these conversions will open a fun and exciting new era of Mustang enthusiasm.

Hey my name is Jesse and I absolutely love mustangs. I’m wondering If your trying to sell any of these cars. I’m only 15 but I’ve always wanted a big ballsy car to just fix up make nice and be able to drive around in something I did and something to be proud of. And I’m thinking you might be the guys to come to for this.

Jesse – 15 is about the right age. The cars in that picture I don’t think you want to try to tackle. Drop me a note at my email address and I’ll give a couple of place that might have something for you. Remember it’s fun but it takes time and hard work and you’ll have to save a few dollars. It’s really cool that you are thinking about that now. Here’s the email address timsweet@cox.net.

      Good luck.

Hey Mustang Guys and Gals, I just picked up my project 1973 Mustang convertible two weeks ago and need to find some parts and stuff. Since I can’t do the Vulcan Mind Meld I guess I have to ask; what is the address and/or fone number to the mustang bones yard in Colorado? also, if anyone knows of any other yards where classic mustangs are in the majority, plz share.

If the site moderator has no objections I’d like to share my project with associated costs from beginning to completion with the Average Guy’s Blogesphere (sp?). Thanks much.

    Sam

I have been told that there is a MOPAR only junk yard in the Chicago area that has over 500 LeBaron convertibles, but have yet to find if this is true.

About the Fuel Injection comment; I helped a neighbor a few years back do an EFI kit for his 1979 Jeep 4.0 straight 6. We had to mount an electric fuel pump to the rear frame rails, intsall an 02 sensor in the exhaust pipe before the first bend, and swap the carb with a throttle body. Eveything was plug and play except for the WOT and Cold start parameters. Driveability was excellent, but the estimated $400 conversion was about $800 when we were finished. Not sure is was worth the cost.

I am curious about the conversions mentioned for the Mustang………
