I know, I have a lot of work scheduled for the Mustang. This includes interior work and yes maybe doing it all at once would be a good idea. But I drive it a couple of times a week and the seat is getting worse. So I decided it needed to be fixed.
The kit is from TMI and I think I purchased it from a Mustang parts dealer, but I don’t recall which one. Here’s a couple of videos on it.
What I noticed is the black piping. I know that the car was re-upholstered before I purchased it, so I’m guessing that this was not original, at least they don’t make them in the reproduction world.
Coming up is the removal of the seat.

Let me know if you need help with this; my only advice is to soak the seat bolts with penetrating spray a day, or two before you remove the seat.
A blow dryer and some Armor All is useful to lube the seat cover and the heat softens the edges while you ‘fit’ the cover. I assume you have hog ring tools?
All kidding aside, I wish they made factory type seat covers for the LeBaron. To get a re-upolestry shop to do one seat is $600!!!! I need to juck yard hunts for some decent replacement seats.
Actually Bill, I already have the seat out. You’ll see in Part II. The Mustang’s floor pan plugs were still in place and since it has always been a Arizona car, the nuts came right off the studs with no problem. You can tell that they had been out before, you’ll see that in the up coming shots.
