Racing Corner here on Average Guy’s Car Restoration, Mods and Racing is where I highlight small race teams that work hard at having fun. These teams have little compensation or sponsorships, but you can find them out here every weekend wrenchin’ in the pits and putting the pedal to the metal.
This next time up is a wife and husband combo and they get their jollies in a straight line.
Hi Tim:
I’ve attached a photo of myself, car & my husband, Jodie, in the background of the 2010 IHRA Div. 4 Finals @ Dallas Raceway.
My car is a 1970 Camaro Z28 w/a 388 small block, powerglide, Ford 9″ rear end. My husband, built the car in 1991, painted it,
built the motor, maintains it & I get to drive it (best part). The color is racer orange w/gold pearl & dark purple Z28 stripes.
Of course, I have to help him w/everything.
The engine is a 388 Roller/Rocker Chev. Has alum. Brodix heads, 950 Holley carb., MSD Ignition,Isky cam, Schoenfeld headers.
The car weighs 3000 lbs w/me & runs 6.50′s @ 104mph in the 1/8th & 10.23 @ 133mph in the 1/4 mile. Not too bad for a small
block. My husband builds all our motors & maintains them. It has a Ford 9″ rearend w/Moser axles. Cragar wheels w/Hoosier
slicks.
Our home track is Redline Raceway in Caddo Mills, TX. I finished 7th in 2010 track
points out of 50+ cars in Pro Electronics. We love racing & look forward to every weekend. Enjoy the people we race with also.
Thanks,
Vickie Poston
Thanks Vickie and Jodie…and this is what that Ford rear-end lets you do…..
As always these small teams are always looking for sponsor or two.
And if you are thinking about sponsoring a team you can leave a comment here for me and I’ll pass on more information to you.
Thanks for reading.
Tim
